Install EPSON V37 Scanner in Debian

Before connecting the scanner, install the software drivers.  They come in three packages:

  1. Data
  2. Core
  3. Plugin

These packages can be downloaded from Epson.com.  The Epson V37 had 32-bit and 64-bit drivers available.  For example, the 32-bit drivers were:

  1. iscan-data_1.31.0-1_all.deb
  2. iscan_2.30.0-1~usb0.1.ltdl7_i386.deb
  3. iscan-plugin-perfection-v370_1.0.0-2_i386.deb

These packages must be installed as root using dpkg -i.  “There was one unmet dependency, “xsltproc”.  This was installed with aptitude install xsltproc.

After installation is complete, a new program “Image Scan! for Linux” appears in the applications menu under “Graphics”.  The “Xsane Image scanning program” was previously installed.

Connect the USB cable.  Make sure the USB cable is fully inserted into the side of the scanner.
