Netgear WGT624 Wireless Signal Dropped by Windows 7

RE: Gateway NV54, Windows 7, wireless, disconnect, Netgear WGT624

Troubleshoot:

  • Device Access List (by MAC address) in router configuration
  • Confirm security protocol (WEP, WPA, et al.) on router and laptop
  • Reconnect to the wireless network via the system tray icon … disconnect, then connect again.

The Gateway NV54 laptop running Windows 7 connected and maintained that connection to the Netgear WGT624 router.  The computer was able to stay connected up to around 40 feet.

A weak signal (by being far from the wireless router) caused the dropped connections.
